About Us
Our oldest son, Wyatt, as a baby had torticollis of the neck, which caused a positional plagiocephaly to one side of his head, and our twin boys had brachycephaly to the back of their heads. We did helmet therapy with them, which was costly and required travel.
We got some results with my oldest son along with some physical therapy for his neck. My twins, Warren and Whitten, still have flatness to the back of their heads even after helmet therapy.
Warren did not do well in the helmet. The helmet irritated him and caused sores to his head that would bleed at times.
He did not get to wear the helmet very long. Our first child, Madison, and third child, Weston, luckily did not have any problems with their head shapes.
Going back to when my first child, Madison, was born, we had been gifted a wedge piece that she enjoyed from birth. At that time, like a lot of parents, we had never even heard of plagiocephaly or torticollis. Our kids, Madison, Wyatt, Weston, Warren, Whitten, and Waylon, all loved it for the first 4 to 6 months, but it had several problems. The most glaring was that, while it did a great job of keeping them secure on their backs, there was absolutely no support for their head and neck.
One night, in May 2020, Madison gave us an idea to start a baby product business. At the time, I was pregnant with our 6th child and working as a Nurse Practitioner in an Urgent Care clinic during the Covid 19 pandemic. My husband, Kendal, was very busy running our trucking business and we were just trying to keep up with life. To try to start up a new business seemed crazy at the time! However, I was worried that our next baby could end up with a flat head like our oldest son and twins had or possibly develop torticollis. I needed to find something that I felt was safe and targeted those areas of concern. And, while we're at it, why not make it super portable and lightweight, right? After searching to no avail, I decided to invent the Head N Wedge. I designed and developed it in the US, and then filed patents on it in the US and China.
The headpiece has a head insert that I designed right after our 6th child was born. I measured different parts of his head when he was first born to come up with the sizing of the insert because he was an average size newborn. The head insert helps support a baby’s head and neck while helping maintain a round head shape from birth. The wedges stabilize infants on their backs for safe lounging. The headpiece is adjustable and detachable. The wedge piece is also adjustable on both sides.
Going back to when our twins were born, they enjoyed being by each other in the old wedge piece, but our smaller twin, Warren, would always roll into Whitten. They did not have much room in it as they grew. I was always a little nervous when they would lay side by side. They needed something that could separate them to prevent them from rolling into each other.
For extra safety measures, I created a complete Head N Wedge that had extensions on the back to connect to multiple Head N Wedges for multiple babies to lay side by side. While it is very stable on its own, this will make it impossible for the other Head N Wedge to somehow work its way onto the other one. It is very breathable and absorbent with honeycomb 3d air mesh. It also has extra soft tencel fiber and is extremely light weight and machine washable.
We finally got our first prototype back when our 6th baby Waylon was 4 months old. He had started developing a flat head at 2 weeks old, mostly because he was favoring his right side and turning his neck to the right side. We did all we could to prevent him from getting a flat head and we were successful, but it was stressful always having to roll up towels to keep him off of his favoring side. If only our product would have been ready when he was first born, it might not have been as stressful.
We let him try the product for the first time when he turned 4 months old. He really enjoyed it and would lay contently while I got some work done around the house. We couldn't believe how much happier he was in it, and I didn't have to constantly hold him! Then we had to ship our product out for more development and testing. I knew in that moment we had something to offer babies and parents.
We named our company Six Trix Baby, because the idea for this product all started while I was pregnant with our 6th baby. We just had our 7th baby Wrett, and he loves this product as well!
I believe with all my heart that God did all of this. Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Psalm 37:4
